consulting manager

Long time reader of this great forum but first time poster and seeking some advice from those more versed in the world of investment banking.

After around 7 years in consulting I'm currently at Manager level but I'm looking for some more stability around where I will be Monday to Friday and considering roles within operations at a few investment banks.

I'm trying to map levels against those in consulting to ensure I make the best of a potential change and also estimate the salaries for 2 roles seeking some advice

Role A is AVP at Deutsche bank

Role B is VP at Bank of America

Your input would be greatly appreciated

Forget the titles, the measure is the £££.

+1

titles are pointless and no point comparing. Even as a contractor you always end up with a formal title that is equivalent to the perm position. There are banks where Programme Managers earn less than Project Managers at other banks. There are banks where I'm too junior to get a Programme Manager role and yet others call me Programme Director.

Cash is the only way to keep score.....

Thanks' both for the responses, I will no doubt follow the £ but not at that stage yet.

Had the interview at DB which seemed to go well, BoA taking their time to even organise an interview, hopefully I'll have offers from both to report back on.

I presume you've read about the coming compensation adjustments announced by DB? Higher fixed, lower bonuses, which sounds nice until they add that the salaries will be calibrated on 2015 bonus figures so therefore could drop in many parts of the business.

Something to be mindful of.

Thanks for sharing that insight Mars. I had read something similar but had presumed that was more relevant to front office staff earning mega £. I had assumed being a pleb from consulting and moving into a more operations based role that bonuses would be higher than consulting at my level but overall not that high and therefore unaffected

You can take help from a counselor also. Both the professions are good.
