Hello,
I've got an assessment centre half-day coming up and would appreciate some tips/ advice on the "group discussion exercise". Anyone know what this entails? Scenarios, number of other candidates, how to excel etc

just a couple of tips:
they tend to aggregate up a bunch of recruitment threads into these centres, so not everyone here is after the same position that you are, and there will be a mixture of grades and profiles. they will be watching how you collaborate effectively - get your voice heard and lead the discussion where appropriate but without trampling all over the others in some outrageous Accenture style alpha male display. If there is a 'wallflower', try to bring them out (without patronising) - that will be noticed..

rc - thanks for that. Do you know what sort of exercises form part of the group discussion?
|
no, sorry - it's run by HR though not the end hiring teams, so likely to be a generic case study as it has to be widely applicable across services
|
It is facilitated by HR but the actual business units attend the Assessment Centres and you will be assessed by someone that is in the unit you are applying for. Which area are you applying to?

Hi There,
I took the assessment centre in January 2011 and was made an offer by Capgemini. Unfortunately the offer fell through when I did not meet their background requirements.
More than happy to help you out if you haven't had it yet?

Hi OntheUup,
I have assessment centre tomorrow! Very short notice!
Please In would like to know more in particular about the case study exercise:
What sort of case study is it? Any tips?
What sort of group exercise was given? And finally, the interview - was it competency based, or more technical? Any questions they asked that you remember?
|
You go in and work with a group of other recruits, in here Capgemini employees are scrutinizing you and might lead the exercise
You then go and do a IQ/LOGIC/COMPREHENSION sorta test - you can prepare yourself beforehand online
finally you are asked a bunch of questions regarding your previous experiences(the usual teamwork/problem solving stuff/positions under the belt taken)
You might have to present something that
A- You're given a certain amount of time to do on your own at home
B- You have 30 min in the office to make your research and present results
Good luck

yomtej, did you take the assessment centre in the end?
can you give us a bit more info on what actually happened?
I've got one lined up and would like to get as much info as i can
Thanks

Hey, please can you elaborate on your AC experience?
I am an experienced hire, Ive been invited for AC... But also been advised that it will only be group exercise and competency interview. They have categorically said, there will be no case study.
Is anyone else in this boat?

Hi, what area have you been invited to Assessment Centre for? Really does depend on which area as to whether you will have a case study or not.
