Hi All,
A friend of mine has recently hit a fork in the road from a career perspective and has come to me for advice on moving from Recruitment into either HR Consulting or Sales.
He has a background in managing large pubs and hence large teams for 2 years post-uni and then recruitment (mainly around Technology) for 2 years. He has been successful in both but has decided it is time for a change. In my view the options below are the most suitable, but would appreciate any thoughts on the matter.
1) Join the HR department of a corporate in a non-recruitment role. This will allow leverage of existing knowledge but build out HR subject matter knowledge and an understanding of how corporates work to enable an application to a consulting firm in a few years time.
2) Apply to do an MBA / Masters and leverage the academic route into a Consulting firm.
3) Apply for a Sales role leveraging industry background and recruitment sales knowledge (say Diageo based on drinks industry knowledge / Technology provider based on recruitment experience).
Any thoughts appreciated.
