Alvarez and Marsal vs Big Four

TWR

Hi All,

After several years as an SC in the advisory arm of a Big Four (joined as a grad), I'm now going through the rounds for an Assoc. role in Performance Improvement at Alvarez and Marsal.

I'm unsure what the right move is at this point in my career though so am looking for any insight about A&M / how the two stack up against each other. From my perspective the pros and cons of A&M are:

Pros

- Stronger consulting brand name (?)

- Less PMO / implementation focused projects

- Smaller firm with more flexible progression

- Better pay

Cons

- Great culture at current firm / (team)

- Likely to get Manager next year if I stayed

- Would have to buy out qualification tie-in / may not get chance to finish it

- A&M potentially less well known brand name for exit options

If anyone can give me any more insight on the culture / pay / type of work / perception of A&M and specifically their PI division, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!
