Advice for recruitment process

#1 Advice for recruitment process

Hi - I'd like you're advises please.

I graduated from a Top 62 university with a low 2.2 degree in Film studies and fashion history. I have 3 A-levels (C in Media Studies and E in General Studies and a D in Citizenship (18 marks from a C).

I'd like to apply for a position at either McKinsey, BCG or Bain. I would also consider Strategy& or Monitor (if i was unsuccessful elsewhere). Can you please help me understand what salary I might get as a new joiner? I would expect £60k plus bonuses and benefits to start...but hoping for more.

What advice do you have for me? How can I make myself desireable to these places? How can I excel during the recruitment process?

Nailed the stereo types quite well. B for effort, C for execution.

I suggest sending your CV direct to one of the Partners and asking them to meet you informally to discuss your suitability and find out more about life at a strategy consulting firm. They will really appreciate the effort.

Typically they only recruit from top 61 universities but if your Film Studies and Fashion History degree is from one of the top 27 of these courses your application will look better...and remember to use your degree - compliment the partner of his or her suit/tie and perhaps suggest some personal touches they could add to the ensemble.

Also don't forget to emphasise your soft skills which are more important. And it helps if u can make a bold claim such as saying u invented the Internet in Spain as part of ur MBA.

Bushy this is McKinsey we are talking about now...inventing the internet in Spain as part of an MBA sounds a bit Big 4...the OP should be talking about how they invented SPAIN.

LOL! If McKinsey had invented Spain they'd be telling everyone how it has full employment and record GDP growth.

Not to mention the seamless integration with Portugal (which was probably invented by Booz before McKinsey decided we can do same but bigger)
