Earlier this year I had joined the consulting arm of a Tier 1 SI player in UK. I have now recieved an offer from Accenture , FS Consulting Practice
Which would you rate better ?
Sal levels at Acc Mgr position ?
Repurcussions of changing job quite early ?
Thanks

Guys..
any feedback on this ?
|
who is the tier 1 si firm?
|
Hmm I would have thought Accenture is a Tier 1 SI player.
so I guess you are probably referring to tier 2 SI?
|
I guess from your post that you are a senior hire? think about why you want to leave your tier 1 so swiftly. Is it that the role isn't what you hoped for or is it that you are struggling to adjust. Then ask yourself what is better about the Accenture role? do your homework, don't be afraid to ask to meet some of the team you'll be working with at Accenture, then make a decision with your eyes open.
dunno which Id rate better. depends on the tier 1.
changing job quite early isn't necessarily a problem as long as it doesn't look like its part of a pattern.

thanks old hack..
yes kind of a mid / mgmt profile .. 10years of consulting experience
SI player I referred to is infosys
absolutely agree with the approach you suggested, trying to make up my mind accordingly
with that context .. does your suggestion change ?

Bite Accenture's arm off. Manager salary is £66 - 80k + bonus + car allowance. I'd be quite interested to see you jot down a list of what you think are the tier 1 and tier 2 SI players.
|
Take the offer from Accenture.
As long as you stay there for a couple of years before moving on, no one will question the move after such a short time at Infosys. It is very clear that you are trading upwards, and frankly as a HH I would probably be more inclined to question your judgement if you didnt take it.

Nuff said.
Sage advice from Mssrs Smith & marsday. Its a no brainer.
|
Also, how do the hours compare? Also would your commute be more difficult or easier?
|
thanks people, this has surely help me clear my head
@agentsmith : in my mind, the consulting firm hierarchy is as follows
Strategy Firms : MBB
Advisory Firms : Big 4's
Consulting Players with strong SI capabilities : IBM, Acc, Cap..
SI Players, also trying to get into consulting : Infy, Cognizant, Wipro, TCS..ect
@ bep : Hrs and commute is expected to be similar
|
Ah that's what was confusing - you split what I think of as SI into two categories. Yes, that's probably about right! You're trading up so I'd take it especially if travel & hours are comparable.
I always think of the big 4 as accountancy firms which in my mind are totally different to Accenture, IBM. So I'd put strategy at the top, then have two branches underneath - accountancy and technology. There's probably another load of strategy firms in between too.
