How do consultancies celebrate their new partners?

#1 How do consultancies celebrate their new partners?

A life less ordinary

Booz & Co used to give new cufflinks when a Partner joined or was promoted...what do the others do for their senior hires and promotes? Does anyone know?

Thanks,

A.L.L.O

Thanks for this - what about along the lines of welcome gifts?

I guess sometimes they might get a bit of cash in the form of a "golden handshake" (for senior non-equity staff) although, these days, in the case of a partner, I think that it's more likely they'll pay into the consultancy if anything. I don't think they often get gifts as such... maybe a bottle of champagne or something might be appropriate, but a warm welcome is usually the most likely thing they'll get.

A congratulations card would probably be nicely received too.

I think that, at that level, it's more about the welcome to the firm/partnership than the gifts.

back in the old days at Andersen the speech at the new partners' dinner invariably included the long-awaited line "welcome to the Firm". gave good insight as to how the non-partners were regarded ;)
