Consulting or banking?

#1 Consulting or banking?

Advice please.....

I am weighing up the difference between a consulting position in a Big 4 firm (non-strategy - although I'm not sure how much difference this makes to career progression??) or a role in corporate banking for a large UK bank.

I wondered what advice would be on career progression and likelihood of moving on after say 3-5 years. My impression is that consulting would open more doors from a variety perspective but not necessarily allow as rapid progression both in responsibility or remuneration?? Also how big of a deal is it to get out of a non-strategy role in the future?

Many thanks for any ideas/experiences
