Am

Hi,

How would you rank the following investment consultancies in terms of prestige, career progression and training opportunities:

Towers Watson

Mercer

Aon Hewitt

Hymans Robertson

Reddington Partners

Cambridge Associates

Barrie + hibbert

Big 4 firms

Sorry for the long list. I want to move into investment consulting and with so many outfits I'm not sure which one will be best for my career.

Thanks

BBB to anon (#4)

For prestige I'd have 1. TW, 2. Mercer

For training opportunities I'd put 1. Mercer, 2. TW

For career progression it's a tie

I wouldn't touch any of the others for investment consulting.

Has anyone got any views on moving in the opposite direction - investment consultant to management consulting?

I've done an MBA and am keen to see what strategy opportunities are available but investment consulting's quite a niche area to start from.

On the original query below, I'd caution against the "big 3" being seen as the most prestigious. They certainly have huge resources but the level of imagination, breadth of role and scope for making an impact at the smaller consultancies is huge.

In term of prestige:

1. Mercer

2. TW

In terms of career progression none of the above. Try one of big four
