Hi guys,
I'm currently working at Tech consulting at Accenture (6 months in), the thing is that what I really want to do is Strategy, and have some questions.
1) How difficult is to make an internal move?
2) How would you approach Strategy Managers, SM, and get their sponsorship? taking into account that I am at a client almost 95% of the time, almost impossible to get assigned with a cross project with Strategy team and, in my country the Strategy office are in a different place than the rest of the service lines.
regards

Have you asked your CC? They may have connections that you don't. That would be my first port of call.
First thing you need to do is get assigned to a project whilst still being tech aligned, thats when you can make the impression and start to request a move to strat.
Why would you prefer strategy? For most they don't really have a clue, just think it sounds cooler.

I like the way that "Strategy" has been treated as a proper noun and commands its own capital letter in his post! THAT is how important it clearly is!
All bow to "Strategy"!
Now, anyone know how to do harvey balls in powerpoint and got any data about how big ecommerce on the Internet is gonna be????

Move to Boston, do some consulting. Then you can say you are in Boston, consulting. Maybe no one will notice the comma.
|
Would work with a move to Philadelphia too. PA, consulting.
|
You could also visit Harvard in Massachusetts and take a textbook with you. Read a few sentences of the book whilst there and then you can say you Studied at Harvard.
|
(It would be best to read the book before later visiting Boston by the way, then you can show progression on your CV).

Or move to the middle of nowhere. That way you're the smartest guy for miles around, so must be at least McKinsey material.
