from IT to consulting

lucid

I am looking to make a change, but I am not sure if I am deemed ready yet.

I have a successful career in IT. now and ex-Microsoft Certified Trainer, two study guides published, 15 years experience, managing UK infrastructure team of Fortune 250 for the last 5 years (grows by acquisition), half way through a self study MBA at the Open University business school.

I have tried experienced professional at McKinsey which was rejected.

I want to make the change but I have not completed the MBA yet.

10 years out of the job hunting market and I am worried I am out of my depth or not ready.

thoughts or advice?

I'm just imagining what it must be like to be a hiring manager at McKinsey

Yeah, they must receive loads of applications.

I got a compliment for my experience in acquisition/merger/divestiture/consolidation IT experience. but they where very strict on certain qualifications... in my case, being only half way done with the masters.

Hilarious I imagine.

"I've done a 3 day course in business processing and feel I could excel at your organisation"

"I'm Prince 2 certified and ready to run your client projects"

Etc...

The biggest joke is... "lucid" is used as username. LOL!

A lot of random people on TC forum these days!

ouch, I deserve that!

I take it by the replies that I am not deemed ready for the transition. Although the experience gets compliments, I guess its the qualification that counts. Most of the time its the other way around...
