crayola

I know a lot of people hate them, but I personally love them...

I was hoping to get a nice long list of acronyms people use everyday so that I can use them in my upcoming meetings, emails and presentations.

My acronym of the day is CPV (consistent process variance)

I look forward to reading your gems

Another favourite: "A VUCA world". Volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous.

Any more gems from others?

SaaS. It sounds so posh and I like the combination of small and big letters in a semi-symmetrical format.

PooP - plan on one page

Do you pronounce it "poop" - like "I really need to show the client your poop by the end of the day" or "you need to work on your poop, it's not big enough" or "there's too much red on your poop"?

Anon MCs to presidentbartlet (#9)

Noone calls it PooP. Its called "PoaP" - as in "Plan on a Page"

Anyway, I think the testing boys beat us to most acronyms and naming things that those of you who don't get involved in testing won't recognise:

UT, CIT, ST, SIT, UAT, BUT etc

Online vs Batch days

Sandpit, shakedown etc

and so on...

Interesting! It's mostly TLA - three letter abbreviation.

Hate to spoil the fun but an acronym is a type of a pronouncable abbreviation which functions like a name - NASA, PETA and my acronym of the day - SNAFU. An abbreviation is just that - FBI, HBO, WTF.

I don't know how you say FBI, but I say it like "fub-ee" does that now make an abbreviation an acronym?

Yes but what about those organisations whom you never see an acronym ?

I give a starter for 10, up north there is a Clinical Commissioning Group for the NHS - Wakefield and North Kirklees CCG, don't believe me ? google it - there also used to be a Wakefield and North Kirklees Health Informatics Team too.

I'm sure there are many others like fast action response teams etc.
