Whats it like to work at PA Consulting in 2014

Been wondering whats its like to work at PA now - culture, progression, management style, the people as considering looking at them in relation to joining. There are quite alot of negatives of this forum on posts that look quite old so interested to get a view of if things have moved on or if its still like this. Any insights would be helpful

It was fashionable to bash PA on here for a while wasn't it, don't hear as much of it anymore. Much of it based on a data loss from one of their techies. In reality they're a very stable consulting business. Public Sector has been a big source of this but they have a lot more work in non-PS service industries now, manufacturing as well.

Probably not as appealing as a brand for a junior IT bod, but experienced hires I've spoken to in more operations consulting over the last few years have quite a lot of positives to say.

Culture, progression, management style can be dependent on the team / area but that's the same as most organisations. Broadly quite a flat structure though. Talk to them and see what you think.

Someone deleted my post, no idea why!.

I was there and had a bad time as did a lot of other people but some people did well and enjoyed it. I only just left recently and was a breath of fresh air.

thanks. I would be looking at a potential experienced hire position. I already have some consulting experience and been in industry so looking to re enter consulting but want to pick a progressive consultancy, but not overly aggressive. A main consideration is around the work life balance and get the impression if you are London based you often get work within SE, for those who live out in the regions could they also expect to get assignments near where they live or is there a higher likelihood of significant travel and living away?
