Why aren't there any decent UK consulting firms? MBB = American. Why nothing like that coming out of the UK?

May be US companies are more open to outside advice than UK/European companies ?
And thus consulting industry took off in US first.
(LEK is 30 years old whereas McK started in 1920s.)
I think it was ADL who first used the term 'management consultant' as McKinsey started out calling themselves engineers or accounting engineers or something like that. Its a point of contention between the two.
what about PA - they've been around for 70 odd years
....
