First things first. I am from India. I did my MBA from a premier institute in India(which of course wont feature in top 50 in global rankings). I am working with the IT Strategy Consulting team of ACN (formerly SITE) as Consultant. I have close to 4 years of work experience in IT Consulting (1 year with Accenture)
Now I got offer from Cognizant Business Consulting (ideally it should be Cognizant IT consulting). They are offering me a higher role(equivalent to Manager) with 45% pay hike.I m leaning towards Cognizant. But Accenture brand pulls me away.
I have listed down the pros and cons of both firms. Please help me decide
Pros - Cognizant
1. Better designation
2. Better Pay (45% hike)
3. Close to home (so no rent payments)
4. More opportunities to move west (US, Europe)
Cons - Cognizant
1. Not-so-great profile
Pros of Accenture
1. Brand
2. Brand
3. Brand
Cons- Accenture
1. Bad pay :(
2. Away from home

Hi - I need to choose between two potential girlfriends.
One is really quite attractive, likes me and is suggesting we go away for a romantic weekend in Rome. Her father is rich, likes me and has offered to pay.
The other one does not like me touching her In any way, prefers me to walk slightly behind her when I am carrying her bags and will not allow me to tell anyone that we are a couple, in case it upsets her long term boyfriend.
The problem is that the second girls is greatly admired by many people for her fantastic beauty and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy to think that people might occasionally mistake me for her boyfriend.
What should I do?

MAK,
Coolio well and truly nailed the point home...
All I will add is - don't worry about the Cognizant "brand" not being as good as Accenture. Remember that as you are going into IT Consulting, I don't think you are missing that much by leaving ACN to join them.
Don't get too hooked on the Brand hype, we are not talking about Bain's vs others here.

MAK,
Grab the offer of you are promised a Manager at just 4 years.
I was negotiating hard with them just to get a Senior Con role with CBC with 5 years of experience, even though I'm already an SC with CapGemini.
I was the placement secretary of my MBA batch and have interacted with their HR and Business leaders. CBC really knows how to take care of its employees.
Cheers,
SC from CG
