geppo

I'm currently working in Accenture as Manager (M1), I have almost 7 years of experience

I've just received an offer from IBM GBS London as Senior Consultant.

Does anyone know what it should be the right corresponding level in IBM GBS?

Senior Consultant or Managing Consultant??

Thx

I want to have an international experience. IBM is offering me a position in a foreign country and it would be very interesting for me.

What salary and what role do you think IBM should offer considering my current role in Accenture (Manager 1)??

Thx

Actually it does not matter which country. If you are moving from anything with Manager in the name to Senior Consultant, then they had better be offering you a home base in the Maldives otherwise it looks, frankly, like you've been involuntarily separated from Accenture and sold your expectations down the Ganges with IBM.

Accenture can offer you international experiences also - you just need to network and push.... In my opinion - and I know it's absolutely not the answer to your question - you are better to stay and network in Accenture than downgrading yourself to Senior Consultant.... It's a complete step back....

Yes, London. In my situation it is not easy to have international experiences.

I would be glad to change my life, but at the same time I want to maintain my current career position and salary.

So, can anyone suggest what role should IBM offer considering I'm currently manager in Accenture?

Is Managing Consultant IBM role comparable with the Manager role in Accenture?

thx

IBM is classified in Bands, you should look for a Band 8 (Managing Consultant) or Band 9 (Senior Managing Consultant). A Senior Consultant is a band 7, so moving to Band 8 will be a pain, the higher the better.

Being said that, I think that sometimes, depending on the project, even a Managing Consultant is nothing but a Senior - Senior Consultant, my advice would be to look for a Sr. Managing Consultant instead that is probably more similar to a Manager level at Accenture.

Cheers.

And in terms of basic salary...

How much should I ask considering my current level (Manager in Accenture) and considering UK rates?

Thx

cheers

From what I can tell, senior managing consultant is the same as Accenture SM?

Regularly, Accenture promotes a baby emplyee as manager for around 7 years. In terms of my experience, manager at Accenture equals to Band 8 or junor Band 9 at IBM, M1 should seek a managing consultant title, M3 should seek a senior managing consultant at IBM.

the pay of M1 at Accenture is higher than a senior consultant at IBM.

I would suggest - don't go, especially you want to go back home in the future.

Interesting thing with salary is I found firms will now look at what you currently make and offer you anywhere from 20-30% more. I suspect IBM will also use this to determine your band. If your offer was for less than 55-60K then Snr. Consultant is where they would slot you.

My expectation is to receive an offer around 65K GBP as managing consultant

Do you think it is reasonable?

Does anyone know how much a manager (M1) of Accenture is paid in UK?

65K sounds about right for MC at IBM. If your offer was for less then they will make you SC.
