I am a Software Programmer Analyst.I want to switch to SCM integration consultancy.I wanted to focus more on business process than the tech development.Should i necessarily go for MBA to pursue my consultant dream.Does the consultancy firms take in candidates with my profile for their IT-BIZ consultation positions.

I am an Applied Mathematician in M.Sc and M.Phil in Operations Research. I have got more than 7 years experience in the teaching field. I would like to put my experince in the management consulting firms. Should i be able to get into it without prior experience or do i have to do some course. Or how to start my career in this field.

I don't think you necessarily need an MBA to help you on your way. Besides, an MBA is of limited use without the work experience to back it up. Start approaching some of the big players and see what kind of response you get. Or register with an agency in your field and ask them to be brutally honest about the value of your experience to date. The companies that are essentially IT companies with a strong consulting arm, might be your best bet, e.g. Atos, CapGem, etc.
