McKinsey or Bain

#1 McKinsey or Bain

John

Hi,

I'm having this luxury problem: I have an offer from Bain as well as from McKinsey, but I have a really hard time deciding where to sign.

Personally, the 'people fit' seems better at Bain, although of course I only met a fraction of the McKinsey folks.

On the other hand, I feel like a job at McKinsey is still a better career step. (particularly since McKinsey has a far better brand in my country) Of course here too I don't know how significant the difference is...

If I were planning on doing consulting for the next 20 years the choice would be quickly made, but as a college grad it's impossible to decide this right now.

Is there anyone who has been in this situation, who could explain why he/she chose finally? Or maybe someone who can put those advantages in the right perspective?

Thanks a lot,

John

Out of interest, assuming you've made your decision, which one did you choose? And why did you make the choice? Congratulations on having offers from both.
