PA Consulting Applications

Cambridge calling

I'd be interested to hear people's views on PA's graduate recruitment. I applied to their Product & Process Engineering group in Cambridge while several of my friends have applied for management consulting roles in London. Despite being told that our CVs are being looked at and that they would get back to us within a week (~ a month ago) very few people I know have heard from them. And then you find the odd one or two that have already had three interviews and now have a job offer. I've not heard of any rejections yet. Can anyone shed any light? I was very impressed with PA and thought they looked like a great company but this whole application thing is leaving a very sour taste...

I am very sorry to hear that you and your friends have not yet heard back from PA. We do endevour to get back to candidates as soon as we can, but this year we have been particularly inundated with applications which may have led to some delays in responding to candidates. We are currently looking into this but please do accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Kind regards

Graduate Recruitment

Just had the 'thanks but no thanks' standard mail from PA - I have to agree with earlier comments about the firm's recruitment. They have been slow and inconsistent in their communication - not that i'm that bothered as in the meantime have been offered a place in a strategy house. As far as i'm concerned they've missed out, and this attitutde may have lost them alot of good candidates this year in my opinion.

Out of interest, did anyone out there actually get anywhere with them? i met someone at another interview back in Janurary who'd had an offer already!

It wasn't just this year. You were very poor last year too. This sort of thing creates an exceptionally bad impression among potential recruits who might have been valuable to you later in their careers, and who may also bad mouth you by telling of their experiences with you, thus further damaging your image.

I suggest you really need to shake your ideas up if you are to throw off the impression of huge arrogance that you are apt to convey. If someone is unsuitable then have the bloody courtesy to let them know with a short note within a reasonable timescale. It's the least you owe someone who has made the effort (and time commitment)of submitting a serous application.

Too right - PA preaches to clients about importance of openness and its change management principles - don't believe a word of it. Avoid a company like PA that treats applicants and its employees shabbily.

You're just miserable because they didn't offer you a job.
