I would be interested to here how other Internal Consultancies go about marketing / selling them selves within their internal market place. What media have you found effective, have you been able to measure an improvements.

Webmaster

Article:

A quick straw poll of the internal consultants we know identified certain key success factors:

* it is important that there is an internal marketplace for consultancy services, so that the internal consultancy team are actually seen by other employees to have "won" the business and have justified the value of a project before it is given the go-ahead

* using internal media such as intranets and company newsletters to promote the positive emotional reasons for using internal consultants was seen to have a strong effect. If a consultancy project needs to go ahead, better that it be undertaken in a sensitive manner by people who understand the business, understand the internal politics and understand "the way things are done round here", than by external consultancies which are often feared by employees.

* introduce a secondments scheme - by having individuals from different departments to work as internal consultants and then return to their original departments, they spread the good word about the work of the internal consultancy

Yes, bizarrely this is older than thread number 1, although thread 1 is funnier.
