Tech start-up valuable as internship experience?

#1 Tech start-up valuable as internship experience?

Hi! I'm trying to decide what type of internship I should pursue. I have an opportunity to do one with a university research spin-off developing decision support systems, which I would like to be part of as I think it would be overall a better learning experience. However, I also have to keep in mind how it will look on my resume, given that I would like to apply for consulting firms.

Most of what I've read implied that management consulting firms look for brand names on internships. On the other hand, I've seen many firms stating on their website that they value entrepreneurial spirit.

How do you think this would be regarded by recruiters?
