From nursing to consultancy?

Syncope

I would greatly appreciate some advice with moving from my nursing job into consultancy. I am currently working as a band 6 psychiatric nurse. I hold a masters degree in Organisational Consultancy as well as a Diploma in Group dynamics. My masters degree provided insights into conscious and unconscious processes that affect working life in individuals, groups and teams as well as an understanding of what leads to functional/ dysfunctional individuals and teams.

I have an aptitude and appetite for learning, knowledge and ideas, as well as an equally strong passion for the application of these in practice. I am skilled at learning and imparting new concepts quickly. I have experience in working at the forefront of a challenging client service, however, it is in a non-business setting. My current job does not allow me to fully express qualities which I believe would be useful in consultancy.

My current job has allowed me to develop transferable skills such as the ability to build constructive relationships, use initiative under minimal supervision, assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and excellent communication and interpersonal skills at different levels.

My current job is no longer challenging and is routine. I would like a career change, however, I am not sure how eligible I would be in management consultancy given my background. What sort of firms should I be looking at for this transition?

Hi

did you see the recent thread medicine to consultancy probably just below this - has similar theme and some pointers - Given this is the second such question in a week are we to come to the conclusion the pause and listening that's going on by the government is too boring for clinicians ? or might it be the uncertainty

Syncope to fred (#2)

Thank you Fred, the medicine to consultancy thread has been quite hepful. Most clinicians I know want to stay in the public sector , specifically the NHS because of the sense of security it presumably provides. However, people are losing their jobs even in the NHS itself. I would like a career change for personal reasons. I believe I can offer more and am tired of doing routine work.
