Joey

I'm a software developer but am considering making a career shift to management consulting with a specialty in IT. Would you have any advice for this?

Thanks,

Joey

I guess it depends what kind of consulting you aspire to do. The SIs like ACN call most of their activities consulting - easy enough to get into that, whereas you may be after the IT Advisory type of consulting (PWC, EY, Cap, also ACN etc). If so, then spin up some value proposition for yourself acround your sd skillset - e.g. enhancing software development productivity, quality assurance, innovation or whatever - that coulkd have a measurable $ benefit tot he client assosicated with it. The IT advisory practices tend to be full of generic BA types without much experience of development - your issue might be in finding a practice that can actually sell your skills
