Jenny from Acn HR to Anon (#2)

Hi Anon,

First let me congratulate you on your attainment of an offer from us. We only take the best so you'll be joining the A-Team.

I’d love to be able to tell you more about our Consulting Expert Career model, but unfortunately completely confidential. It is quite simply the “secret sauce” that makes Accenture different (and by that we mean better!) than every other consultancy firm. It is absolutely NOT, as some people may try and tell you, yet another internally branded HR “bag of bull$hit”.

Sorry I can’t tell you more at this stage but you will definitely find out more should you take up the offer.

PS – If you are absolutely desperate for a clue to what CEC might be about, can I suggest you watch the film “Universal Soldiers” with Claude van Damme and Dolph Lundgren – it’s quite similar.

Hi Jenny,

That's exactly what I thought so thank you for clarification.

It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling that I’ll be joining the home of high performance where I’ll find people who are among the leaders of their field, working with clients who can say the same.

To the OP: did you not think to ask at any stage during your interview process what the role was that you were applying for? If so, why worry now.

Or was it that you were applying for a role in their consulting business, and they've turned around and offered you this. In which case pick up the phone to HR and ask them to provide you a name of someone else in this model to speak to to understand it better (don't rely on HR - they probably don't understand it either).

If I remember correctly from my ACN days this was introduced a few years back to allow people to step off the 'up-or-out' career ladder at a specific career level, and become 'specialists' or 'experts' in a specific area without becoming more senior. But I might be wrong.

Dear HH,

Please ignore the rather childish comments from other members of this forum. People like “Dave” seem to think any sort of positive comment must actually be ironic negativity.

That said I was slightly stung by your suggestion that the phrase A-Team is somehow not one that should be used. I checked out colleague response to this and we all had to admit that perhaps you have a point. This is not an insignificant issue for us – internal HR brand is important – ACN consultants are consistently reinforced with the message that we are the best. We need to be able to summarise that simply, and had assumed “the A-Team” did just that.

We have now initiated a small series of workshops to come up with some alternative “informal” ways to reinforce the “ACN is best” message. I would seriously value the views of you and similar (not you Dave) people on this forum. Are any of the following good ways to refer to ourselves?

“The real deal”

“Leader material”

“Top class/top of the class”

“A1!”

“Top Gun”

“Golden Gang”

Many Thanks

PS - have you considered applying to Acn yourself?

Jenny

how about "the dog's b*ll*x" ? I like to think the asterisks refer playfully to the little accent on 'Accenture'

We actually considered this!

We thought we could refer to it as “The DeeBee’s” – as if it was perhaps a drum and base group/vibe sort of thing. The only problem we thought we might have was that while it was very “down with the kidz” it might be completely over the heads of our slightly older consultants.

It’s a real challenge to come up with something that appeals to a wide age range of staff.

Do you feel it would work on multiple levels, or is it just a bit too street?

Thanks for the input – good to see this forum is not just full of mickey-takers.

Using the theme of made up and joined up words, how about:

FuturLeaderPerformance >>

Note the two trendy little >> things at the end. Just like "The Green Dot" but a bit different.

Why I think everything related to Accenture is a joke? I can't elaborate but I worked there and I worked with them after leaving - its a genuine sweatshop!

Mia, I don't wish to stifle debate, but do remember your confidentiality clause before explaining why working at Acn is a sweet shop.

"why working at Acn is a sweet shop"

...because people tend to get fat whilst working there?
