Lola

I have over 5 yrs experience in research & business development and now looking to enter into consultancy. I intend to do a postgrad course in the interim. I am considering either a MA in management studies or a MBA, which will be more advantageous for my entry into consultancy?

Generally an MBA but a lot depends on which University, which firm, your experience and how well you do at the interviews. Don't forget that a lot of consultancies are taking on PhDs because the industry is getting so much more specialised so an MBA is no longer the only issue.

I have no experience in consulting, but have worked in finance organisations in project/new business development positions. Quite a few MBA's have modules dedicated to consulting, whereas some of the modules in Management MA focus on qualitative and quantative research methods, which would also be beneficial. However, my interest lies in change management/implementation - so I think the MBA may serve me best. Do u think this would be the most beneficial route to enable mt entrance into consulting?

Change management really falls under the broad context of organisational behaviour and HR. Remember that an MBA is a very generalist course which is why is is often the choice of degree for a consultancy where they dabble in a number of different business functions. They will teach you about change management in an MBA but to specialise, you will need to get the appropriate work experience after an MBA. On the other hand if you do a masters in org behav, then you could possibly go into the changme management activity, but that may not be from a consultancy platform.
