Any hope for a Kings College London graduate

A number of consultancies whose websites I have visited stress that they focus their recruitment efforts on a core of top Universities. Does anyone know what ones chances of breaking into consultancy are, if they belong to a University that is good but not considered to be in the same league as the Oxbridge et al.

Last year I applied to a number of strategy consultancies including Bain, Marakon, OC and C,Parthenon and but was rejected by all of them. I had just graduated from Kings College London with a 2.1 in Computer Science with Management and prior to that achieved AAB in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at A-level. I also performed very well at GCSE level getting straight A*'s. While at University, I was a student representative, sat on a number of committees and successfully led a publicity campaign for a society. Since having recieved those rejections last year, I attempted to beef up my CV and have since acquired a basic grasp of German and have spent seven months working at a German investment bank. I am still committed to a career in strategic consultancy, strongly believe that I possess the competencies to succeed in this field and will be reapplying for analyst roles this year.

Does anyone think I have boosted my chances of getting in or is the fact that I chose to go to a University that is not targetted by the top consultancies likely to be held against me.

I completed an MSc from King's in 2002 and found a job with Accenture. I know for a fact that Accenture are targeting King's students in November. I would suggest contacting the careers office for further details. Good Luck!
