IBM Promotion Pay Increases

#1 IBM Promotion Pay Increases

Snakebite

Hi,

The IBM grade structure as I believe it to be is:

1) Graduate Consultant

2) Consultant

3) Senior Consultant

4) Managing Consultant

5) Senior Managing Consultant

6) Associate Partner

7) Partner

Does anyone know what percentage pay rise you would receive upon promotion at each grade?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

That is the correct grade structure. I can't tell you exact pay rises on promotion to each level - indeed the way it works at IBM is you can be promoted without a pay rise at all. The bands overlap an awful lot as well - nothing concrete but from experience it is something like this (experienced hires tend to be at the higher end, long-term employees who weren't grads tend to be at the lower end hence band 7s earning less or little more than some new grads)

Band 5) 27 - 32

Band 6) 27 - 40

Band 7) 27 - 50

Band 8) 40 - 60

Band 9) 55 - 90

Band 10) 70 - 110

Band D) 100+

Anon, are those percentage pay rises? Or, more likely, actual salaries? What currency?

Hi marker,

By reading the thread it is the salary range at each level.

Does anyone know the pay rise increase you would receive when promoted?

Cheers.

Sorry, yes, they are rough salary bands (and I mean rough, just from what I know).

I don't really know rises at each level - all I do know is that promotion and payrise in IBM do not necessarily go hand in hand

Snakebite - do the math. If the first 3 bands start at the same number then you would expect increases to be p*ss poor and the upper ranges to be offered as a sweetener to experienced hires to band them accordingly. You can't skip a band so my guess is the first significant jump in income is between bands 8 and 9. This is the usual sort of hamster wheel salary policies the big SIs like to implement - hurrah you're now a Senior Consultant, here's a 10% payrise, market conditions and all that...
