Attire for women

New female consultant

Hi guys, there's a new female consultant where I work and she wears bright pink bras that you can see over her top... also she has little tattoos ('tramp stamps'? hehe) such as the one on the base of her back that you can see when she bends over. She is very distracting and is getting favourable treatment by all the men who think she is a hotty. She is very confident but usually talks rubbish. If it was a man talking such rubbish he would be put in his place in an instant. Any good practical suggestions please?

Msc Anthro to New female consultant (#1)

Hmm, surprised. Other female consultants I see at IBM/Accenture are very 'masculine'. Some are gorgeous, but they tend to dress in a more adrogynous way. No see-through tops or pink bras.

I assume you are female yourself, otherwise this clearly would not be a problem.

You can't try to put yourself in her place yourself, or you would seem bitter. In fact there's maybe nothing practical I can come up with that is vaguely PC... boob job?

You can win this. You know you can.

Get a bright pink bra and some tramp stamps. Nice short dress. See thru top. Soon you will be distracting the best of them.

Yes it would be distracting for sure.... though I don't think people would appreciate seeing an 18 stone 6'3" 35 year old man walking around the office in a bright pink bra and some tramp stamps. Nice short dress. See thru top.

Mr Cool to New female consultant (#1)

"If it was a man talking such rubbish he would be put in his place in an instant."

Not true - I routinely hear men speak boll0x and get away with it (or think they do).

What you have to face up to is that the entire might of your intellectual output is currently adding less to the general satisfaction of the people in your working location than a brief glimpse of pink lace.

Be patient - it should be a five minute wonder.

If its not then it might say more about your value than her lingerie? Perhaps your colleagues are saying, "OMG here comes blather-mouth again, at least I can kill some time during his presentation looking at Natasha's knickers"?

Just a little challenge...

Attire for women? As little as possible works for me. " though I don't think people would appreciate seeing an 18 stone 6'3" 35 year old man walking around the office in a bright pink bra and some tramp stamps. Nice short dress. See thru top" you'd be surprised love! I'd find it all rather amusing myself.

This is the way of the world ! A consultant talking rubbish???? Well I never!

Sounds to me that you'll have to raise your game. Alternatively bitch about her incessantly behind her back to anyone who cares to listen......you could always befriend her and tell her to her face that she's a bit of a slapper.

Capital Idea to swifthalf (#10)

I worked on the MOD many years ago, and most of the IBM and Deloitte female consultants wore very little after 10pm on Thursday nights, as they snuggled up in bed beside fat middle aged project partners

someguy to Capital Idea (#11)

@Capital Idea: Wow. So assuming you were at the MOD ages ago, you must be a fat balding middle aged project manager now yourself, so I expect you've got some nubile young consultants queueing up outside your hotel room door for a snuggle? No? Maybe it's your breath.

Dont hang around to someguy (#12)

Distracting? Just sleep with her and get this awful tension out of your system and get kudos from the guys that are fawning around her. Be a man (or woman)

Proper advice to New female consultant (#1)

Talk to her. Honestly, openly, professionally. Some women are just new to this world and need an honest, friendly, not confronting advice on what to wear that will show their inner value. Believe it or not, most of us don't want to succeed through looks even if we have it.

And as for the other, absolutely inappropriate and unprofessional advice I've read here... I just hope that you guys are better when talking to clients.

I use this strategy all the time and it works for me. Just show a tiny bit, a skirt that is slightly shorter, a glass of wine on business travel and a smile. Senior managers, over worked think they are in.
