#1 Career consultants?

JB.

Has anybody got any feedback on the services provided by “Career Consultants” such as Bernard Haldane Associates etc?

I visited Bernard Haldane (BH Careers) in Manchester and was not impressed. The “consultant” was very arrogant. Be wary about handing over £5K to those people. If you do a search on Google you will see why!

Joe.

I had the same experience. I was put off by their attitude.

I do not understand yours contributions. If you don't like consultants, could you explain us why are you loosing your time reading a consultant forum ?

In fact, to respond to the question, consultants have greater professional opportunities than others : more interesting jobs, better salaries, etc. Their job give them the unique opportunity to know the most important process of an enterprise, to manage the most difficult contexts and problems, and to deal with a large diversity of top managers. When a company could pay $1500, $2000, $3000 or more a day, you can be sure that it is not to do silly jobs, but rather to manage complex tasks than many of the top managers of the company can't do. The more expensive the consultant is, the most interesting the job will be. It will be hard and stressful for the consultant, but certainly much more interesting than many jobs. That's why consultants have the greater career opportunities in the clever and bigger companies.

Dear Ean,

Your English is not great but I have tried to decipher your comments. My original response was a reply to the query posted by JB on 13/08. To be honest I think you have the wrong “end of the stick”. I was recalling my experiences with Bernard Haldane Associates which appears to mirror those of other individuals that make contributions to this website. As for working as a consultant I have over fifteen years experience.

I hope that clears up your misunderstanding,

Joe
