Shifting careers from HR Consulting

#1 Shifting careers from HR Consulting

don

I have ard 9 years of HR consulting experience with Big 4 Advisory firms across most areas of HR. In terms of industries have solid understanding of manufacturing.

I feel that I could do much more with my MBA in strategy and marketing and business understanding and therefore am keen to make a shift from HR line more towards a COO role but am not sure how I should go about it and if that would be a good move.

If anyone has made a similar career shift from HR to any other line, please advice.

Cheers!

Thanks

Mars A Day to don (#1)

You need your next role to get you far closer to the P+L if you want to make it to COO, but this could still come from an HR angle - within an manufacturing context some sort of TQM certification and experience would probably be good news, but it will also come down to how you position yourself - the benefit of being at a Big 4 being of course that you are not seen as siloed with internal HR and all that entails.
