Anyone heard back from Boston Consulting Group?

#1 Anyone heard back from Boston Consulting Group?

Elite

I've applied a couple of weeks ago for their summer internship. I know it's early still, just really want to hear back! I was wondering if anyone else had heard from them either way or for anyone that's applied for them before, how long did it take for them to get back to you (if at all?)?

PS: I go to UEA, studying Politics and attained CCC at A-Level.

BCG tends to only bring people in with better grades than CCC and hard hitting Uni's. I wish you the best of luck, but it may not be worth pinning all you hopes on them!

More to answer your question - any more than a month without a reply is a bad sign....

Never going to happen Elite. BCG simply will not even consider you.

Elite - companies can get masses of applications for internships, grad programmes etc. Companies don't have the time or resources to just let anyone apply and then go through the resulting applications. They have to set some barriers to selection and quite often that will be around grades. If they say you need CCC at A-Level and you haven't got that, your application will go into the no further interest pile.

The only way round this is a personal introduction that will at least get your application/CV looked at.

Be careful not to be too arrogant in your application as that will put people off if they get past the section on qualifications. It is not a matter of you knowing how good you are, others need to be convinced via a piece of paper they will have a minute or so to look at.

But good luck anyway.

I have applied for the summer internship programme, too and not heard anything yet.

OC&C however got back today letting one know whether one passed the online verbal/numerical reasoning test for their summer internship recruiting process.

Hope that helps and please keep me updated in case you hear anything from BCG. Thanks.

Mr Cool - thought they dug up the field of dreams and built a new Tesco on it?

Forum Fan I think you are simply perpetuating Elite's misplaced optimism. CCC at A level simply will not do for BCG or any top MC firm (or bank for that matter).

Elite BCG, McKinsey et al have their pick of the brightest grads from Oxbridge, Imperial etc not to mention international universities, people who even with 4 A grades at A level work hard to differentiate themselves further through leadershio extracurriculars. My bet is that your internship at DB was in some back office function. BCG gets the same applicants as DB will get for front office trading roles.

Components of a sentence

Clauses

A clause consists of a subject and a predicate. The subject is typically a noun phrase, though other kinds of phrases (such as gerund phrases) work as well, and some languages allow subjects to be omitted. The predicate is a finite verb phrase: a finite verb together with zero or more objects, zero or more complements, and zero or more adverbials.

There are two types of clauses: independent and subordinate (dependent). An independent clause demonstrates a complete thought; it is a complete sentence: for example, "I am sad." A subordinate clause is not a complete sentence: for example, "because I had to move."

See also copula for the consequences of the verb to be on the theory of sentence structure.

Complete sentences

A simple complete sentence consists of a single clause (subject and predicate). Other complete sentences consist of two or more clauses (see below).
