Anyone moved over from IBM to Accenture or vice versa?

Knight Industries

Has any one with personal experience in switching over from ACN -> IBM or vice versa?

I hear the culture/work ethic at IBM is better than that in Accenture? Personally, life at ACN is alright so far - but it'll be interesting to hear of other experiences...

Why would you want to move?

ACN is the Ferrari of the computing world. The Tiger of the Jungle.

I'd guess it would be similar to when Sol Cambell left Spurs for Arsenal.

Good luck!

I moved the other way from IBM to ACN about 5 years ago, Although I took VR a year ago.

There are massive differences in both companies but on the whole I found Accenture loads better. Although it is much more agressive.

The issues I had with IBM are

1. IT Consultants / Tech Archs / Tech Pm's are only there to pump IBM's hardware and software even if the best fit may be Oracle running on Sun it was always DB2 running on AIX

2. I found progression to be achingly slow, You can be 5,6 or 7 years at one PRG level. Some people never want to progress and stay at the same grade for 30 years

3. point 2 above was my biggest issue, I managed teams who had people with vast amounts of experience and little ambition so a plan being delivered late was never a big issue.

4. Money, pay rises, bonus, expenses - Accenture will always beat IBM on this

ACN to Anonimator (#4)

I also moved from IBM to ACN some 4 years ago and I subscribe to the blog above.

In addition, I found IBM was just petty in the way it treated staff, too much HR driven, bureaucratic, and rewards are smaller (That despite that this year things have not been exactly fantastic at ACN).
