Hello Forum,
I am thinking of applying to the Deloitte Strategy Practice, but wanted some insights into size, type of work, type of people (personality and calibre), market reputation and pay levels.
Would really appreciate any information, not matter how small.
Thanks in advance,
Stephen Hughes

It's good, but quiet at the moment - what area of strategy - have you any experience?

Not sure which part of Deloitte strat, but do know it is in strat.
Yes, I have worked for MBB 3 years in the past.

Ex-recruiter,
could you shed light on the interview process? what sort of questions are asked? what is the format? thanks

sorry, went missing for a few days.
For grades up to and including manager it would be an initiail interview (possibly telephone or face to face) with someone from the compentancy you would be the best fit for, then you would have to attend an assesment day - where you would have a couple of interviews - incl one with a partner, perform case studies, group exercise etc. An offer would usually be based on your performance on that day - if you want to speak off line find me on linked in ..... Ruth B - thanks for the help. I am trying to stay relatively anonymous. A quick question is re the case study - I have one lined up and would like to know the format and type of case I am likely to get. Thanks in advance.

if it is a case study at an assesment day then it will take the format of a group exercise, if at first interview stage then it will be a generic one to test your reasoning skills - how many light bulbs needed to light the M25, if you were to run a rope around the earth a metre above the surface how would you calculate it's diametre etc - designed not for you to get the right answer but to test how you approach the question and explain your reasoning. your Rec con or the person in the DRC at Deloitte responsable for arranging your I/v should be able to give you a little more idea as it is often dependant on the interviewer....... there are also case studies available on the internet ( i forget where) for you to practice. Anyone?

There will be an initial phone interview with HR which is very brief and easy, then an hour long face to face with someone at M/SM level, then eveyone from consultant to manager level has to attend an assessment which is a similar format to a grad recruitment day. Two interviews, one of which will follow a presentation you give. You also have to write an essay and do a group exercise. The day is as much about being able to manage your time effectively as your competence I felt, if you have got that far don't be daunted. Good luck, hope this helps. Deloitte work you hard but they look after you and most of the people are great. I've worked across/with the different competencies apart from strategy who seem to be a bit more insular and more likely to get farmed out to another competency themselves.
