Doc Doom

Hi all,

I'm starting a new job in consulting and i'm looking to move to the London area. I'd need to get to zone 1 easily and also travel reguarly to Heathrow i.e. ~£30 taxi journey.

Does anyone have any good pearls of wisdom regarding a good location to look at?

Cheers,

Why are you bothered about the taxi fare? Wouldn't you be expensing it?

There's also the Heathrow Express from Paddington - sometimes a better option to avoid traffic congestion.

Your obvious option is W London - obviously depends on budget and tastes where exactly. West Ken, Hammersmith, Ealing and places up the Bakerloo line (Kensal Green etc) are all handy for taxis to Heathrow and / or connections via Paddington.

Just didn't want to take the pi$$ with huge taxi fares :))

Thanks for the advice - i was thinking Hammersmith would probably be a nice place.

Hammers to Doc Doom (#3)

Hammersmith is a hole - go to West Hampsted

Yes, join the throng, pay the associated premium... To be fair West Hampstead is nicer and does have more going for it (albeit not as handy for Heathrow if that's such a priority).

Hammersmith is variable. A bit iffy in parts and nice in others - as mnay parts of inner London.
