I work for a Big 4 consulting firm in Europe (financial services). The company is talking about sending people to China to support the local offices in the new projects.
Do you think it’s a good opportunity? Has anybody had a similar experience?
|
Sounds like a great opportunity in every respect except it means moving to the Far East (wonderful place, I'm sure, but it's miles away from home and I for one don't speak Chinese).
|
I'd love this opportunity. But it all depends on personal circs. China is the economic powerhouse of the world right now and looking like being the major player of this generation. Learing Mandarin and the business culture over there could be a considerable advantage in making the leap between east and West.
Whether you have a llife and commitments where you are now, and plan to saty in your current location long term might affect your choice though.
Good luck

Going to China would be a perfect opportunities for most westeners in their professional and personal life.
You will enjoy the life you could not afford in your own country, and have this opportunity to explore this fastest emerging country.

U will love the food and the girls

Sounds great if you're one of those lifelong student types and don't mind living a million miles away from home.
Not so great if you are a normal middle aged man with kids halfway through secondary school.
|
Middle aged man, what are you doing still working in consultancy? Haven't you found a proper job by now?
