Hello everybody,

I joined the grad scheme of a big 4 consulting firm (read PwC, EY etc) last year with a plan to do an MBA after 2-3 years. However, I am in a fix as to whether I am going to learn anything solid within 3 years as a major part of my first 2 analyst years will be spent as a "glorified admin" - I have come to this conclusion after less than a year in this industry.

Meanwhile, I have received a job offer from a leading FMCG( p&g , unilever etc) to start at an entry management role in supply chain. I have less than 2 months to make my mind and I really need some advice. Is it worth leaving consulting at this stage when I am half-way through the analyst level to work in industry with lower pay? Moreover, people tell me that it is not a great idea to leave before completing atleast two years in order to make the most of the brand value on my cv. The only reason for me to even contemplate moving is the fact that I can get greater job responsibilities, learn a lot about the consumer business industry and gain better exposure to operations/supply chain in 2 years than in consulting. Am I being too naive?

Seems like you are one of those IT charlatans. Any job is better than that.

You cannot even complete 1 year without looking to jump ship based on some very limited experience and a great deal of assumption? Lucky lucky Unilever or whoever will get you - I suspect you'll be back in about 6 months asking whether you can ever get back into consulting.

I would say leave. Someone of your calibre should be on the other side. Afterall that's why consultants are needed.
