What's it like in the North East?

I have been working outside the UK for a few years so am a bit out of touch (I do CIO advisory work) but would like to find something in the North East. Is the situation as bad as some people say at the moment? Should I stay where I am (Belgium) for the time being?

Thanks

Thanks for the advice - my project in Belgium lasts until the end of the year so I will look for something in the UK next year.

The North East you say? Hearts of Gold, absolute Hearts of Gold. Yes, there's occasional trouble but they only ever hurt their own.

Suggest that next year may be better for you to move back to NE as market should be stronger. Also you may be able to join a firm that doesn't have the usual bias towards being London centric and may entertain applications from people outside the SE
