Hi,
We have just arrived from Australia. In Australia we started and ran a 35+ person (2-3M pound p/a) consultancy company in change/process/IT/PM etc management company for 5 years servcing Telco, IT, oil, government etc. We would like to work here as consultants in our field on contract or setup another consultancy company (key members of our Aussie team are ready to relocate)or work with an existing one. Does anyone have any advice on how to meet clients or what we should/could do next? Ready to start work now.
Many thanks.…

Hi Sue, Hi Dave
I saw your message on the forum. I'm 35 and I finished my MBA last December in Paris, where I live. I have 9 years experience as clinical engineer, Sales Manager (large accounts) and consultant. Since December, I've worked as a freelance consultant for 3 clients in France. I want to start with a small consultancy firm in IT, processes, etc... My role could be, consultant and business development manager. If my idea interest you please e-mail me at : malekzaaboub@yahoo.com or call me at : 00 33 6 21 51 23 39
Regards
Malek

Hmmm. 35 consultants at a normal target utilisation of 70% generating 2-3mill means your day rates were between 300 and 450 quid a day?
Assuming normal salary/ billing ratio you must only have been paying your consultants an average of 35k?

Uhhh, let's get this straight:
- You've just arrived in the country but haven't given any real thought to what you'll do when you get here. Well, some people are like that... no doubt you have substantial income from your Australian business which you can live off... BUT, it's the next point that really puzzles me:
- You've built a company from the ground up to the point where it's turning over £3M/year and employs 35 staff. Yet you're asking us for advice about how to meet clients or what you should/could do next. It's like Richard Branson coming on here and saying he's thinking of starting an airline in Japan and does anybody know where he can buy an aeroplane please.
Frankly, I just don't know what to say!

Am I missing something here ? OP was 2001 - i'm guessing average 35k for a consultant wasn't too bad then :-)
Sue and Dave - if you are still here how did you get on ?
Needless to say why are we even commenting !

It wouldn't surprise me if Sue & Dave are now operating out of a nice little farmhouse in New Zealand or Bournemouth or somewhere like that, offering Business Advice, Interior Design Services and Personal Coaching/NLP Training.

Damn you DC! Why did you have to go and spoil the fun. I was waiting for more comments. Why oh why!!! Why spoil such a brilliant wumming opportunity?
