EDSer to anon (#3)

we have to vote whether to accept - if we vote no there may be more job codes, if we vote yes there may still be some job cuts, the problem is the hardware side of the business, services not too bad so tricky decision.

Anonimator to EDSer (#4)

EDS-er, So what you mean is that the cuts will probably come from your parent company collegues in HP hardware not from EDS and its hard to care about people who are your collegues because you were bought. I can see your point.

deal or no deal to Anonimator (#5)

we have to vote whether to accept 5% or not, no guarantee it will make any difference - CEO is setting an example by taking a 20% cut, yet he had a 31% rise last year! If indeed the paycuts do have a positive effect then no doubt execs will get a bonus, we get nothing, so we give up 5% pay for probably no benefit

on the other hand, at least I have a job for now

Oldtimer to deal or no deal (#6)

The issue here is whether to take a cut in pay or risk redundancy. If we do take the cut we may lose people anyway. If we don't then the question is whether those that didn't are singeld out for "special treatment". I can't see EDS taking the risk of being taken to an employment tribunal so I don't think there is much downside to saying no.
