Excel christmas shopping

Maybe it's because I am brainwashed having spent most of last week tweaking (doing battle with?) an Excel model but I found myself creating an extensive Christmas shopping list and budget in Excel this morning. It just sort of... seemed like the right thing to do! Needless to say when I admitted this to my non consulting flatmates they thought I was a freak. I have to admit; 6 months ago before I started working in MC I would have said the same. Am I the only one?

Cynic to Anon (#2)

It's a common joke amongst MBBB partners that they often write their shopping lists in the same format they write their powerpoint presentations. Of course, in reality, they don't - but it sounds all social and jokey to say it, and they think it makes them sound like a true dedicated professional even though all of us can see right through it. Kind of like when I was in a meeting with a MBBB partner who turned up late and said "sorry I'm late, we had a break-in at my home last night... but for some reason they only took my briefcase" with a phoney puzzled look on his face.
