Negotiating Grad salary.

#1 Negotiating Grad salary.

OP

I have just received an offer from Deloitte (Risk Management – not really consulting I know) to join as a grad in one of the regional offices. I have 1.5 years experience working in a major blue chip financial company as an analyst, but my school history is fairly dubious: V poor A-level grades (extenuating circumstances) and a 2:1 in maths and business from Stirling.

The question in this thread is about pay; I’m doing quite well in the company I’m at and have just got promoted. I’m on £22k now and will probs be on about £25k come April (when my promotion kicks in). I know someone who joined the same service line in deloitte 2 years ago in London and he was paid £26k. Accounting for the London bonus and wage inflation I think I’ll be offered £20-22 when the contract arrives. Probably down the lower end.

How negotiable is this offer do you think? I didn’t apply for any of the other 3, so I have no other offers in my hand – plus I would accept the offer even if they offered 18k. But more money is always nice.
