Hot skills.

When it comes to 'hot skills' within Consultancy e.g Oracle, SAP etc. Do the main consultancies look for experience of practical application in a job role or is it sufficient to just have the Certificate/course under your belt, with unrelated work experience.

Why? I would like to work in consultancy. I have the relevant academic prerequisites but my skills and experience are not in demand anywhere. If I take on, one of these courses - what will that accomplish?

Stephen, when it comes to finding a job, it is very important to have a mixture of both, qualifications and experience. I find it a bit hard to believe that your skills are not in demand if you mentioned SAP and Oracle. I would suggest to start from somewhere, does not have to be exactly work related as your skills, but in the mean time you are building other skills. You can also make contacts into your dream job.
