Hiring smokescreen

How often do companies publish recruiting ads without intention of actually recruiting? I was told that sometimes companies do that in order to create an impression that they are doing well.

CGEY took out a full page recruiting ad only to pull out from the country a month later from my country (Malaysia). Now BCG is doing the same and I wonder if it is worth applying at all.

Hi Kevina and others, this has probably been discussed by many candidates over the last 2 years. Your suspicions are founded, many firms in various sectors do this to boost consumer confidence, flatter the analyst that influence share price, allow some practice for HR staff, etc.

After all this is Strategy/Tactic & Denial at it's best.. if not playing by the rules. This form is not only in Malaysia. It is Global !

Read somewhere in the forum that BCG is now embarking on a recruiting ad drive worldwide just to improve its visibility in the marketplace.
