Hello, I've a lot respect for everyone who has a time-consuming job and finds time to help. I need your advice to find a way into STRATEGIC PLANING so PLEASE share your ideas! F i r s t o f a l l : I'm absolutely confident that consulting is my business, because I've been attracted from understanding and controlling complex systems my whole life! So I decided to go for it. + + + I'm 26 and right now finishing my Master of Engineering with the best results possible.- - - With only one semester in business I can maybe not win the biggest prices in consulting yet. But I know financial knowledge is required to make a good job. --> 1. I imagine finding a big company with good people and a mentor and start learning the financial stuff in the evenings. 2. I feel free to leave Germany. 3. I do not want to do technical consulting, because I’m looking for the financial knowledge. 4. Maybe get an additional MBA after 3 to 5 years. Q u e s t i o n ? I dream of working in consulting – especially within STATEGIC consulting because I like conceptional and creative thinking and I wonder where I should start to apply. The economic situation is not that good. - - - Do you have a hint where Engeneers will be needed most and how to increase the chances to succeed? You are surely more expert than I’m, please assist because I’m here to listen. . . . . . . . T h a n k s allot! Stephan (Leipzig, Germany)

I need someone to mentor too. Graduated with high honors from Yale, with about one year consulting experience in a boutique e-business shop, founded a dotcom. I have been finding it hard to break into MBB! Why, oh why?

Hi Stephan, try to combine your engineering knowledge with consulting, try to get into a company doing supply chain management, work in the automotive industry etc. Management Engineers is such a company in Germany, but they generally only hire people with experience.

Hi Neo, thank you for your answer!

That is the kind of information I' looking for.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

This means that the way to Strategic Consulting goes via something else. First of all it's only important to get in?! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Looking on Consulting websites I realize that nearly the half of all consulting firms are working with automotive industry. Does it mean they are all equal? ' '

Thanks again, Stephan.
