Advice on landing a job with a 'Big 5' Consultancy.

#1 Advice on landing a job with a 'Big 5' Consultancy.

Stephen daly

I am looking for advice on how to get that elusive first job within a top consultancy. I have a BA. BEng (2.2) from a top university and nearly 4 years (in total) of technical experience within two different Telecoms companies. I had recently been recomended to one of the 'Big Five' in London by a technical manager, however I was knocked back on account I do not have the specific skills the are looking for right now. I was told moving forward, that I might fit into positions that arise, but I'm taking that with a pinch of salt.

My intenetion is to move into Technical & communications Consultancy as an experienced hire. However what if my skills are not up to scratch?? I am going to do an MBA at Oxford in two years time and I want to be a position where I can be sponsored to do so. Which firms will do this?? How can I make that initial break into the company?? I would really appreciate any feedback to dalysm@hotmail.com
