I'm trying to decide which of these qualifications to undertake. Does anyone have any opinions on either? Which is more valued? What jobs/industries particularly prefer one of them?
CIMA, by a long shot. Much broader base and more applicability.
CIPS, if you want to earn more for less. Course is easier, there is a shortage, E-procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain transfornation RFID etc are all modern buzzwords, would you rather 'bookkeep'?
CIPS - As IT Outsourcing has pretty much matured as a market it is time to outsource Finance routine tasks...shouldn't be so difficult to outsource spreadsheet work:)
