I am in dire need of guidance as to how to gain a foothold into the world of management consultancy, specifically into healthcare management consultancy. I am based in Manchester, UK, and have an MSc in Health Management from Imperial College Management School, along with entry level experience of two years in the healthcare sector in the Middle East, working for the Department of Health in Dubai, U.A.E. I am also a Pharmacist by vocation, with a degree from Kings College London and have several years experience working in the NHS as a community pharmacist/manager in the UK. I am also a memeber of the Institute of Healthcare Management in the UK. The trouble lies in that when I have applied to large consultancies with offices based in Manchester there are always no current positions available, and I don't know what other venues to exploit. Any positions that are available require the candidiates to have at least 5 years experience and a track record of performance achievements. I am interested in becoming an associate or junior consultant before finetuning the art of consultancy and becoming a full fledged MC. Any guidance would be well appreciated.
