Breaking In to the Field

I am an experienced small business manager/owner with a brand new degree in IS. How can I best break into the consulting business?

I am also looking for same thing.I also wanted to break in consulting and start something of my own.....The only problem with me is I am fresh MBA .I dont have any experience.But then I found a institute which can be helpful..its IMC Institute of Mangaement consulting......u can go at their office and ask for some help..........I am also planning to open my self consulting business....without any experience .just on knowledge gained in college and MBA course...keeeping finger crossed.....

Don't want to dampen your fire, but an MBA alone does not make for nearly enough preparation to move into Consulting. I would heartily suggest that you get into a Consulting firm and learn your trade firstly!

I would estimate that 90% of Consulting is people skills and dealing with complex political / emotional situations.

I am a young MBA myself, working as a Management Consultant. When asked which is more valuable, my MBA or my 4 years experience I do not hesitate to answer!

The MBA is your introduction into the world of business, now you need to build upon this!
