is it too late for me to do an MBA?

#1 is it too late for me to do an MBA?

Anon

I am an experienced manager within big 4 consultancy, with nine years of consulting experience.

I am 31 and was considering doing an MBA to have an edge as I progress towards senior management. My thinking for this is that there is a glut of people at my current level and moving up the ladder requires some form of distinuishment in addition to the knowledge to be had from an MBA.

Am I too old/experienced to gain benefit from an MBA?

No. Average age for people completing MBA's in the UK varies a little year to year but is usally in the 29 - 33 range. Most people now recognise that there is an optimum time for completing an MBA - once you have enough experience to add context to your studies but before you become too stubborn to learn new things.

Get the firm to contribute and go for it, MBA's are even more highly regarded in industry so it will increase your options all round.

Old Timer to what the heck.... (#3)

I did not start my MBA until I was 36 and finished at 39...and I was not the oldest student on the course by a long way. No one is EVER to old to learn something new - doing an MBA was the best move I ever made professionally.
