Places this year are between 30-60, from what I have heard. There are more slots in the Technology stream. In terms of training, Technology is exactly that - focused on training individuals in various tech skills - programming languages, etc. Strategy and Ops trains individuals in more generic traditional 'consulting' skills.
The distinction between these streams is made by the applicant - they will ask you in the first round what you're going for. You can say you are not sure and they will decide for you - but this will show that you haven't really done your research as well as others - so use forums like this to find out - as well as have a think about whether you want to be a programmer, or more on the client/people side of things.
I have just been through all the rounds - and the case study questions, etc are the same for both streams. Although you are interviewed by partners within your chosen stream.
In terms of insider tips - they're a really nice group of people, and just be yourself, relax and try and enjoy the whole thing. Best of luck and let us know how u do! Nick
