Hi there. to all those with knowledge of Deloitte Consulting, please could you clarify a few things? (i am having my first round with them v soon so would like to know i have the right picture!:)). i know DC currently recruit largely into Technology; but how different is the work from that of the strategy group? (same transferable skills? less industry wide knowledge etc etc?)- and also how is the distinction between applicants for either of these tracks made? are there specific distinctions (e.g. in case study questions etc)made for either of these during the first/second round interviews?

finally also, any rough numbers of analyst positions available/ applicants etc?

thank you to all who can reply! would really apprecaite it! and best wishes to all in the hassel that is job-finding! :)

ps: those who've got in, any insider tips? :)

Anja,

Places this year are between 30-60, from what I have heard. There are more slots in the Technology stream. In terms of training, Technology is exactly that - focused on training individuals in various tech skills - programming languages, etc. Strategy and Ops trains individuals in more generic traditional 'consulting' skills.

The distinction between these streams is made by the applicant - they will ask you in the first round what you're going for. You can say you are not sure and they will decide for you - but this will show that you haven't really done your research as well as others - so use forums like this to find out - as well as have a think about whether you want to be a programmer, or more on the client/people side of things.

I have just been through all the rounds - and the case study questions, etc are the same for both streams. Although you are interviewed by partners within your chosen stream.

In terms of insider tips - they're a really nice group of people, and just be yourself, relax and try and enjoy the whole thing. Best of luck and let us know how u do! Nick
